Black & White Friday!

Good afternoon everyone… Today we share with you one of the biggest leopards in the Park. He has lost part of his right ear , and weighs probably close to 90 kg! He is huge. I sometimes think its a lioness from far, then to realise its our trusty southern leopard male! Noa calls him Oscar!

He has a huge range, I have seen him in and around the whole southern triangle of the Park, and that is 35km x 38km x 34km! Here he was chased up a tree by a hyena that was trying to steal his springbok carcass he caught that morning! Enjoy your weekend and see you monday!

Walking on the edge!

Good afternoon everyone… Here is our favourite cat in the Park! She is elusive, and makes our lives hell! We have been trying to follow her since January, but we will keep on trying to find her as much as we can, spending loooooooong hours out in the field, looking for tracks or any signs! But like Gary Player said: ” The more you play, the luckier you get!”

We found her early in the morning on a ridge stalking a springbok, but once they disappears in the tall grass its almost impossible to follow them! Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

Gatekeeper!

Good afternoon everyone… I came across these lions at the entrance gate of Xaus Lodge in the Western side of the park. The three cubs tried to bite off the chain at the gate. They did eventually got it off the hook and then played around for an hour before the sun got a bit hot, and then headed for the shade. We found this pride twice in the last week and both times they walked up to this chain and started to play with it! Its great seeing these cubs at play! Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

Burning Gemsbok!

Good afternoon everyone… Herewith a sunset shot of my favourite antelope. The only outward difference between males and females is their horns, in males, these horns are perfectly straight, extending from the base of the skull to a slight outward and rearward angle. Females have longer thinner horns that have a slight outward and rearward curve in addition to their angle. Enjoy and see you tommorow!

Hide and seek!

Good morning everyone!… I took this photo of a African Wild Cat over the weekend, and what a beauty she was. They are very hard to find at the moment because of the high grass. She was a great model, catching grasshoppers in the tall grass. The African wildcat is mainly active during the night and twilight. Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

Pride!

Good afternoon everyone, sorry I disappeared for a while, I got stuck with a pride of lions in the north! Two beautiful black-maned lions and a female with three playful cubs.

The cubs are great to watch and never let you down , they are always playing and jumping on mom and dad! Here they are coming towards us down one of the Botswana roads, mom on the left, and sister on the right, the young male was always in the front!  Its great capturing them when they parade in good light! Enjoy your weekend and see you on monday!
